Evangelism is simply telling good news of Christ.Dear editor, May I commend you on the encouraging article on Canon Michael Patterson's appointment as evangelism Evangelism Gantry, Elmer fire and brimstone, fraudulent revivalist. [Am. Lit.: Elmer Gantry] John disciple closest to Jesus. [N.T.: John] Luke early Christian; the “beloved physician.” [N.T. director in the diocese of Niagara (Evangelism not so scarf after all, January). His view on evangelism appears to parallel with the teaching I received from Rev. A. LeDrew Gardner, in Saint John Saint John, city, Canada Saint John, city (1991 pop. 74,969), S N.B., Canada, at the mouth of the St. John River on the Bay of Fundy. A major year-round port, it has an excellent harbor, large dry docks, and terminal facilities and maintains extensive in the 1970s. Mr. Gardner explained that an evangelist evangelist (ĭvăn`jəlĭst) [Gr.,=Gospel], title given to saints Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The four evangelists are often symbolized respectively by a man, a lion, an ox, and an eagle, on the basis of Rev. 4.6–10. is anyone telling someone the good news of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ: see Jesus. Jesus Christ 40 days after Resurrection, ascended into heaven. [N.T.: Acts 1:1–11] See : Ascension Jesus Christ kind to the poor, forgiving to the sinful. [N.T. and why he came. In Mr. Gardner's eyes, a mother telling a bedtime story bedtime story n. A story that is read or told to a child just before bedtime. to her children is doing the work of an evangelist. This was the job Jesus left His followers--"Go tell" ... Matt. 28: 19-20. He suggested that there are different methods of evangelism--some we might like, other ways may not be our way, but if the end result brings a person to hear about Jesus and his love, who are we to knock the method? I am excited to see Mr. Patterson taking this challenge to get the Word out--going where people are and offering the Gospel. Bishop Ralph Spence is to be congratulated for seeing the need and seeking a solution that could sweep Canada with God's love. Norma Kelly Riverview, N.B. |
