Evaluation confirms Reality Tour's beneficial role for youth.


An evaluation study of the Reality Tour, a project of Candle Inc., suggests that the Butler, Pa., group shows promise as a drug and alcohol awareness and education program.

Specifically, the evaluation study found that:

* 42 percent of youth surveyed (122) report an increase in discussion within the home regarding substance abuse

* 46 percent of youth reported that discussion in the home was made easier by the Reality Tour experience

* 92 percent of youth reported they used the information provided within 30 days

* Perception of harm for gateway drugs, tobacco, alcohol, marijuana marijuana or marihuana, drug obtained from the flowering tops, stems, and leaves of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa (see hemp) or C. indica; the latter species can withstand colder climates.  as well as illicit drugs illicit drug Street drug, see there  increased overall; and
