Eurotel in the Czech Republic Selects Nokia To Supply Its MMS Solution.

Eurotel and Nokia have signed a Letter of Intent following Eurotel's decision to select the Nokia system for multimedia messaging (MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) An enhanced transmission service that enables graphics, video clips and sound files to be transmitted via cellphones. Developed as part of the 3GPP project, MMS phones are generally backward compatible with SMS and EMS. ) as its MMS solution, following MMS testing since May.

This solution will allow users of MMS-capable phones to send messages combining text, images, graphics and sound in a single rich message directly to other MMS terminals, e-mail addresses, or to users of non-MMS mobile phones.

Under the agreement, Nokia will supply a complete end-to-end MMS solution, including the Nokia Multimedia Messaging Center (MMSC), the Nokia Terminal Gateway and extension of the Nokia Artuse WAP Gateway (Wireless Application Protocol gateway) Software that decodes and encodes requests and responses between the smartphone microbrowsers and the Internet.
