attracted over one hundred thousand visitors. Thousands of people who were unable to join the pilgrimage were able to see it streamed live on Austria's National broadcaster's (ORF) website.

To give a panoramic multi-angle view of the event, ORF created the concept of the "Internet OB-Van" which housed Optibase's MGW 2400 streaming server, as a core-transmitting component. The Internet OB-Van was linked to five camera teams, which fed analog footage of the pilgrimage into the MGW 2400. MGW 2400 encoded the inputs and sent the live stream over the Internet to a Windows Media Microsoft's audio and video framework for Windows, which embraces playback, encoding and streaming. "Streaming such an event posed a great challenge for our technical team," said Thomas Haas from Digitalvideo Engineering. "During our 72 hour transmission we endured difficult weather which influenced transmission conditions. Despite the adverse conditions, the MGW 2400 gave excellent performance, operating continuously without a stop, and producing a top quality Windows Media stream."
