Eurojet nets Iberian catch.
Eurotek rounded off 2008 with the installation of its first Eurojet in the region at fish processing and preserving company Mar Iberica, S.A. Delivering excellent energy savings, the made-to-measure freezer is designed to re-freeze glazed frozen fish.
"A number of factors made this a challenging project, not least the 12 weeks order-to-installation time line. There was also a lot of competition for this order and we were delighted that the Eurojet came out the winner," u explained Eurotek Sales Director David Hallifax.
"The system had to be flexible enough to deliver a range of glazes, adding between 15% and 40% weight to a wide variety of fish types. We achieved this by designing a new reversible belt system, which enables the freezer to build the glaze in up to four stages.
"In addition, we incorporated axial flow fans rather than the traditional centrifugal fans that are used in high air pressure applications. Not only is the unit cost lower--but the energy consumption is also around 50% less and offers savings of up to 32,000 euros a year."
Built entirely of stainless steel, the Eurojet was shipped in sections to facilitate installation within just 10 days. It is capable of handling up to two tonnes an hour of frozen production.
Mar Iberica Production Director Jose Antonio Laredo said that the installation had gone smoothly and that the machine was achieving good results; "It's the first time we have worked with Eurotek but we have been very satisfied with the work achieved by their Eurojet freezers.
"Our goals with this project are to improve our product quality and increase capacity and we have achieved both." Other Eurotek installations across Spain and Portugal are handling products ranging from ice cream to bakery products.
As well as the Eurojet, custom-built Eurotek freezers and chillers include spirals, IQF and carton handling systems.
Now part of the GEA group, Eurotek can offer complete refrigeration and freezing solutions in partnership with its sister companies around the world.
