Eugene writers win fellowships.


Byline: The Register-Guard

Two Eugene writers, Alison Cadbury and Mary O'Brien, have won Oregon Literary Fellowships in literary nonfiction.

Mountains & Rivers Press of Eugene received a publisher's fellowship.

They are among 18 writers and five publishers who will receive grants ranging from $675 to $1,900 from Literary Arts, a nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive.

Nonprofits are also called not-for-profit corporations. Nonprofit corporations are created according to state law.
 arts organization which also sponsors the Oregon Book Awards.

The recipients will be honored at a reception in February. This year's awards totaled $25,000.

Other winners in literary nonfiction are Susan Cross of Applegate, Tracy Trefethen of Boring, Ron Steffens of Bandon and Erika Weisensee of Milwaukie.

Poetry fellowships went to Nicolas Alvarado-Greenwood of Portland, Amy Klauke Minato of Joseph and John Morrison John Morrison (or Morison) is the name of several persons: In Photography

Fiction winners are Dan DeWeese of Portland, Carla Perry of Newport, Jan Priddy of Arch Cape, Mary Rechner of Portland and Suzy Vitello of Portland.

A drama fellowship was awarded to Francesca Sanders of Portland, and a fellowship for young readers literature went to Martin John Brown of Portland.

Ellen Waterston of Bend won a Women Writers Fellowship in nonfiction.

Along with Mountains & Rivers Press, publishers fellowships went to Future Tense future tense
