Eugene woman's frog lands in the funny pages.


Byline: The Register-Guard

Eugene's Betty Sumner has made the leap to nationally syndicated cartoonist. At least for a day.

Sumner's idea of adding a frog to the award-winning comic strip comic strip, combination of cartoon with a story line, laid out in a series of pictorial panels across a page and concerning a continuous character or set of characters, whose thoughts and dialogues are indicated by means of "balloons" containing written speech. , "Pearls Before Swine pearls before swine

 strip that follows the lives of Rat, Pig, Goat and Zebra, even named the frog "Betty" in Sumner's honor.

Betty the Frog can be seen clickity-clacking away on a computer keyboard in a sneak-preview panel of the strip in a recent press release. You'll have to wait until sometime late this spring to see the entire strip revealed.
