Eugene schools reap rewards of grants.

Byline: The Register-Guard

The Eugene Education Fund has shattered another donation record, announcing 56 grants totaling $121,463 for every school in the district.

A first-of-its-kind, back-to-school gala, held Oct. 19, brought in more than one-fourth of the total, EEF EEF Engineering Employers Federation (UK)
EEF Egyptian Expeditionary Force
EEF European Employee Forum
EEF Environment Electronic Friends
EEF Exponentially Embedded Family
EEF Energy-Efficient Family
 executive director David Meredith said.

Last year's total was $100,506, he said.

Every school applied to the fund this year, he added, and every school received at least one grant.

The EEF also awards districtwide grants, such as the elementary science kits.

The highest-need third of schools - those with the greatest numbers of students eligible for the federal subsidized meal program - received 45 percent of the money.

Unrestricted donations provided through November will be applied to some of the 65 grants that have yet to be given funding, and donors can sponsor specific grants through December.

Meredith said he noticed a greater number of specific requests this year for technology conducive to collaborative projects, such as projectors and SMART boards, which are computerized, interactive white boards.
