Etisalat acquires a 16.6% stake in SoftAtHome to shape the future of the Digital Home.

Etisalat acquired a 16.6% stake in SoftAtHome, a software provider of home operating platforms that helps service providers deliver convergent applications for the Digital Home. The acquisition will enable Etisalat to develop and provide a holistic digital home experience to its customers, thereby, bringing about a paradigm shift A dramatic change in methodology or practice. It often refers to a major change in thinking and planning, which ultimately changes the way projects are implemented. For example, accessing applications and data from the Web instead of from local servers is a paradigm shift. See paradigm.  in the way technology is consumed today. Etisalat will be demonstrating SoftAtHome's solutions for the Digital Home, on their stand during the Gitex Technology Week in Dubai.

SoftAtHome develops and markets a Home Operating Platform that enables Service Providers and Telecom Operators to deliver innovative and convergent applications for the Digital Home. Operators can combine different services such as voice, video, user interface, security, network access, connectivity or management and deploy them across different devices in the home including Home Gateways (HGW HGW Horny Goat Weed (herbal mixture)

), Mobile phones and PCs. With a new platform, SoftAtHome is fostering a new business model where 3rd party application developers play a key role by bringing innovation in the Digital Home market.

Etisalat has selected the SoftAtHome Operating Platform (SOP) to deploy their new multiplay solution offering including IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) Also called "TV over IP," IPTV delivers scheduled TV programs and video-on-demand (VOD) via the IP protocol and digital streaming techniques used to watch video on the Internet. , Video on Demand, Personal Video Recording, Internet TV (1) Watching TV programs on or from the Internet.
