The Ethics in Business Research Fund, established in late 1992, awarded $150,000 in grants to five research teams.

* Michael Shaub and Janice Lawrence of the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln received $34,000 to investigate the influence of ethical orientation, ethical reasoning, experience and situational factors on professional skepticism.

Robert J. Sack, chairman of the ethics in business fund managing task force and a former chief accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission Division of Enforcement, was pleased with the applicants' diversity. "About 60% of the 42 applicants had accounting backgrounds and the remainder included business and management schools and philosophy departments," he reported.
