Estes Park Selects Heath Construction for $1.9 Million Riverfront Work.

Heath Has Built Entire Riverwalk over 20-Year Period

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Estes Park officials recently awarded Heath Construction the $1.9 million job to construct the last large section of the town's beautiful Riverwalk, which meanders along Fall River through downtown.

After completing a rigorous competitive selection process, officials with the Estes Park Urban Renewal Authority selected Heath to build Wiest Plaza along the river and complete nearby riverfront improvements. The new plaza, which will include steps down to the river, will be an attractive gathering place one block south of the main downtown stoplight where travelers turn left to reach Rocky Mountain National Park.

Heath has a lengthy record of working with Estes Park. The company has built the entire Riverwalk during the long-term, 20-year phased project that began in 1984. In addition to the Riverwalk, Heath has built additions to the local hospital, Dannels Fire Station, downtown streetscapes and numerous projects for private owners. The company also renovated town hall.

For the latest Riverwalk project, which begins in February and is scheduled to be finished summer 2007, Heath will extend the Riverwalk along Fall River's north and south banks between Wiest Drive and busy Moraine Avenue, a state highway.

For the project, Heath will construct a stone-paved pedestrian Riverwalk and replace concrete and stone retaining walls along the river bank. In addition, the company will build a pedestrian crosswalk across Moraine Avenue and a new pedestrian bridge over Fall River. Heath will finish the project with multiple landscape improvements, including trees, shrubs, lighting and benches.
