CHANDLER, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 2003

Company Appoints Experienced Chip Industry Strategists Dr. William

Pohlman, Bill Sheppard to Board of Directors

Andigilog, a fabless analog and mixed-signal semiconductor company focusing on highly accurate temperature sensors for the cellular, personal computer and industrial markets, today announced it has secured initial funding for Series A requirements.

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Valley Ventures, an institutionally funded venture capital partnership with $70 million under management, led the round.

"Increased system performance and portability demands have created a huge opportunity for cost-effective and technically superior temperature sensors with a very high level of accuracy," said Carl Liepold, founder and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , Andigilog. "Using standard digital CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) Pronounced "c-moss." The most widely used integrated circuit design. It is found in almost every electronic product from handheld devices to mainframes.  process technology, Andigilog leverages technology leadership in design and manufacturing technology to create highly accurate, cost -effective sensor products that have not previously been available."

Liepold has excelled in the development of analog circuitry that can be manufactured on standard digital CMOS processes. Using digital process technology to make these sensors results in more accurate devices with higher yields and lower costs. Liepold has 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry at companies including Intel, Motorola, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) , and Medtronic. Liepold has been granted several patents for analog circuits analog circuit, electronic circuit that operates with currents and voltages that vary continuously with time and have no abrupt transitions between levels. Generally speaking, analog circuits are contrasted with digital circuits, which function as though currents or .

The company also announced the appointment of Dr. William Pohlman and Bill Sheppard to its board of directors, joining John "Jock" Holliman and Gregg Adkin of Valley Ventures and Liepold.

Pohlman, a chip industry veteran, founded fabless semiconductor company A fabless semiconductor company specializes in the design and sale of hardware devices implemented on semiconductor chips. It achieves an advantage by outsourcing the fabrication of the devices to a specialized semiconductor manufacturer called a semiconductor foundry or "fab.  Primarion after leading a number of divisions and business units at Intel Corporation (company) Intel Corporation - A US microelectronics manufacturer. They produced the Intel 4004, Intel 8080, Intel 8086, Intel 80186, Intel 80286, Intel 80386, Intel 486 and Pentium microprocessor families as well as many other integrated circuits and personal computer networking  for 19 years. He has been awarded a number of patents and is a director for several technology companies.

He previously co-founded Callan Data Systems Callan Data Systems Inc., from 1980 to 1985 was an innovative but short-lived computer manufacturer, named after its founder, David Callan, and located in Westlake Village, California, USA.  and led development teams in groundbreaking products at Western Digital and General Instruments. He was awarded an Arizona Governor's Innovator of the Year award in 2001.

Sheppard was most recently CEO of Microlab, an RF switching products company. He previously was president and CEO of Micro Photonix Integration. Prior to that, he spent 18 years at Intel Corporation, where he most recently served as vice president of the Technology and Manufacturing Group and Director of Corporate Services Activities that combine or consolidate certain enterprise-wide needed support services, provided based on specialized knowledge, best practices, and technology to serve internal (and sometimes external) customers and business partners. . He holds a bachelors of science degree from the University of San Francisco     [  and has served on the boards of United Way and other organizations.

Andigilog, which was the 30th fastest growing technology company as named by the Arizona FasTech 50, was founded in 1996 and began shipping temperature sensors in 2001. Temperature sensors have an estimated annual market of U.S. $1 billion and are used in devices or subsystems that monitor temperature in notebook and desktop PCs, cell phones, PDAs, and peripheral devices See peripheral.
