START HERE

1. CHOOSE

FIRST BASE

3. CONSIDER

Consider who is going to read this. (What are their interests, needs, likes, and dislikes?)

SECOND BASE

4. LIST

List the main ideas you want to get across in your essay. Write as many ideas as you think relate to your topic and purpose.

5. REVIEW

Review your ideas to make sure they all relate to your topic and purpose. You might want to put the ideas in an order that makes sense to you; for example, most important to Least important.

THIRD BASE

6. WRITE

Write a topic sentence that introduces your first idea.

7. WRITE

Write a topic sentence that introduces each of your other ideas. Each idea should be expressed in its own paragraph, beginning with a topic sentence.

CENTER FIELD

8. THINK

Think about how you want to end your essay. Then, give your essay a title.
