New Partners, Executive Directors, and Directors Named

LOS ANGELES -- Ernst & Young LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol  recently announced the promotions for its professionals based in the Greater Los Angeles area The Greater Los Angeles Area, or the Southland, is the agglomeration of urbanized area around the city of Los Angeles, California, United States. Mark Sogomian was promoted to partner from senior manager. Since 2005, Mark has been the Pacific Southwest resident in Ernst & Young's Professional Practice Group. He has been heavily involved in the annual client continuance process, technical consultations, education programs, audit quality reviews and the PCAOB PCAOB Public Company Accounting Oversight Board  inspection processes. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants With over 330,525 CPA members (in August 2006), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is the largest professional organization of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) in the United States of America.  and the California Society of CPAs. Licensed to practice in California, Steven is a Certified Public Accountant. He earned a B.S. in physics, with a business emphasis, from the University of California, Los Angeles UCLA comprises the College of Letters and Science (the primary undergraduate college), seven professional schools, and five professional Health Science schools. Nancy Chan was promoted to executive director from senior manager. She is part of Ernst & Young's Financial Services Office (FSO (Free Space Optics) Transmitting optical signals through the air using infrared lasers. Also known as "wireless optics," FSO provides point-to-point and point-to-multipoint transmission at very high speeds without requiring a government license for use of the spectrum. ) and focuses on asset management. Nancy serves as a hedge fund team leader on the Pacific Southwest area FSO tax team. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs. She received her B.S. in accounting from Loyola Marymount University and her M.S. in taxation from Golden Gate University.

Karen Angel was promoted to director from associate director. She has been instrumental in building Ernst & Young's Global Media & Entertainment Center, channeling resources to develop thought leadership and industry-specific training. Karen rejoined Ernst & Young in 2006. Previously, she was an executive director in the firm's Media & Entertainment audit practice. She has also served as chief financial officer and controller for media and entertainment companies. She is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California. She is president of the San Fernando Chapter of Executive Women International, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs.

Kim Vogler was promoted to director from associate director. With more than 20 years of experience, Kim is the lead people consultant for Ernst & Young's Assurance and Advisory Business Services practice in the Pacific Southwest area. She works closely with the firm's leadership and serves as an architect of a number of people processes, including performance management, compensation/variable pay and leadership promotions. She is a graduate of Kalamazoo College, where she received her B.A. in French.
