Erie Times-News Selects E.J. Barry to Expand Market; IntelliQube Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Tool Uncovers New Profit Opportunities.

, today announced that its next-generation data warehouse and business intelligence (BI) system, IntelliQube, has been successfully deployed at the Erie (PA) Times-News. The system went live at the daily Erie newspaper in late December and is being used to help find ways to increase profitable circulation and advertising. The December deployment is the first step in a long-term consulting agreement between E.J. Barry and Times Publishing Company Times Publishing Company is a newspaper and magazine publisher. Its flagship publication is the St. Petersburg Times, a daily newspaper serving the Tampa Bay area. .

IntelliQube is designed to provide significant return on investment for media and other organizations by improving customer acquisition and retention, distribution, single-copy sales, campaign management and analysis, advertising account and sales force management, and financial analysis. The system's implementation methodology focuses on finding costs savings, growth opportunities, and new profit streams in a client's market and then fine-tuning IntelliQube to deliver the projected results. The IntelliQube system uses data models that reflect how media companies conduct business and means that the system often can be deployed within 90 days or less, as was done at the Erie Times-News The Erie Times-News is a daily morning newspaper in Erie, Pennsylvania. It has a daily circulation of about 61,000[1] and a Sunday circulation of about 88,000[1]. .

The system is built on Microsoft's SQL Server An earlier relational DBMS from Sybase and from Microsoft. Sybase introduced SQL Server in 1988 for various Unix versions. In that same year, with help from IBM, Sybase created an OS/2 version that Microsoft licensed and branded as Microsoft SQL Server.  2000(R) and Analysis Services(R) and uses Panorama Software's NovaView(R) BI suite for desktop and Web access to the data warehouse. GIS mapping is integrated with the NovaView desktop, enabling marketing managers to display sales results and identify growth opportunities on maps.
