The bug is part of Erie's "Lookin' Out" teen driving program, which was designed to address the problem of auto accidents--the No. 1 killer of teens. Schools which adopt the program operate it through a student committee that is co-chaired by an Erie Insurance agent and a faculty adviser. The students and agent work together to design an awareness program that addresses a variety of teen driving issues and distractions. Schools are eligible for up to $2,000 in grants to implement the "Lookin' Out" program.

The Safety Bug "will provide teens with an opportunity to gain real life experiences without the associated risks," Jeffrey A. Ludrof, Erie Insurance Group's president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. BR
