Ericsson wins $95 million order from Norway and Sweden for Arthur Weapon Location Radar.STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 1996--Ericsson has received a series of production orders from the Defense Material Administration (FMV FMV - full-motion video ) in Sweden and the Army Material Command (HFK HFK Hand Free Kit (mobile phone accessory) HFK Nørreskoven Football Club (Denmark soccer club) ) in Norway for the new Arthur Weapon Location System (WLS WLS Weblogic Server (BEA Systems) WLS Weight Loss Surgery WLS Weighted Least Squares WLS Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (Mequon, Wisconsin) WLS Windows Live Search WLS Wisconsin Longitudinal Study ). The order, exclusive of options, is worth around $95 million. The number of units has not been released. Arthur WLS has been developed jointly by Ericsson Microwave Systems of Sweden and Ericsson Radar of Norway. Arthur will be delivered from the factory in Halden in Norway for both countries, starting in 1998 and with final delivery in the year 2000. Arthur is Arthur I, 1187–1203?, duke of Brittany (1196–1203?), son of Geoffrey, fourth son of Henry II of England and Constance, heiress of Brittany. Arthur, a posthumous child, was proclaimed duke in 1196, and an invasion by his uncle King Richard I of England was the first successful joint Swedish/Norwegian defense project.
