Ericsson signs $71 million GSM and TACS contracts in Northern China.

The first contract, valued at $21 million, is the third expansion of the Hebei GSM network. With this expansion, the total capacity served by Ericsson network will reach 160,000 subscribers. The TACS contract, with a value of $50 million, is the biggest one in the Hebei TACS history. The expansion will increase Ericsson TACS network capacity to 370,000 subscribers. The expansions will be complete by 1997. The co-operation between Ericsson and HPTA started more than ten years ago when Ericsson installed its first cellular TACS system in the province.
