Ericsson receives $40 million expansion order from Digital Tu-Ka Hokkaido in Japan.


STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 1997--Ericsson has received an order from Digital Tu-Ka Hokkaido (DTD (Document Type Definition) A language that describes the contents of an SGML document. The DTD is also used with XML, and the DTD definitions may be embedded within an XML document or in a separate file. ) for an expansion of their PDC (1) (Primary Domain Controller) A Windows NT/2000 service that manages security for its local domain. Every domain has one PDC, which contains a database of usernames, passwords and permissions.  mobile telephone system. The expansion will extend DTD's coverage area and increase system capacity to meet the rapid subscriber growth in the Hokkaido region. The order includes AXE (An X Editor) A text editor used with the X Window system. By adding widgets, aXe can be customized by the user.

It is expected that there will be over 53 million subscribers in Japan at the turn of the century and most of them will be using digital systems.
