Ericsson receives $23 million espansion order for cellular network in Hungary.


STOCKHOLM Stockholm (stŏk`hôlm'), city (1995 pop. 692,954), capital of Sweden and of Stockholm co., E Sweden, situated where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. , Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 1996-- Ericsson has received an order from Westel 900 GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) A digital cellular phone technology based on TDMA that is the predominant system in Europe, but also used worldwide. Developed in the 1980s, GSM was first deployed in seven European countries in 1992.  for the expansion of its GSM network in Hungary.

The contract is worth approximately $23 million, in first phase. This latest order for GSM equipment from Ericsson covers switches and base station equipment for further network expansion. Deliveries and implementation will take place during 1996.
