The upgraded network will also provide greater network stability and enable TP S.A. to offer an extended range of services, including IP Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), strengthening the carrier's position as the leading IP services provider in Central and Eastern Europe The term "Central and Eastern Europe" came into wide spread use, replacing "Eastern bloc", to describe former Communist countries in Europe, after the collapse of the Iron Curtain in 1989/90. .

"This is a significant win for Ericsson as Telekomunikacja Polska has rapidly established itself as the leading IP service provider in Central and Eastern Europe," said Olle Backgard, VP Public Networks, Ericsson Poland. "We are delighted to extend our relationship and reinforce their leadership position in the region"
