Ericsson Wins $49 Million Major Expansion Order in Taiwan.STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 12, 1998--Ericsson has signed an agreement with Chunghwa Telecom Not to be confused with China Telecom. Chunghwa Telecom (Traditional Chinese: 中華電信; Hanyu Pinyin: of Taiwan valued at $49 million for the upgrading of their wireless AMPS network. Ericsson solutions will provide enhanced quality in the network, including software and hardware upgrades as well a replanning of their wireless network using advanced cell planing techniques. Chunghwa Telecom will also be the first wireless operator in Asia to install Ericsson's new Mobile Switching Center A switching center is a node in a telecommunications Circuit switching network which is connected to either another switching center and/or to end user devices. Switching centers are aware of other centers and possible routes between them such that on demand a center can establish , MSC (1) (MSC.Software Corporation, Santa Ana, CA, www.mscsoftware.com) Founded in 1963 by Richard H. MacNeal and Robert G. Schwendler, MSC is the world's largest provider of mechanical computer aided engineering (MCAE) strategies, simulation software and services. 2000.
