Erectile Dysfunction Cures - Do They Really Work?

Erectile dysfunction can be hard to cope with, so many men opt to find out more about certain cures for ED, or impotence. While many are temporary, they are considered cures for the dysfunction nonetheless.

Dr. John Brinkley started curing patients of ED in the 1920''s. He used unconventional means and methods to cure his patients- and had his medical license revoked. 50 years later. in the 1970''s. Things began to become much more main stream when in 1983 physiologist Giles Brindley dropped his pants in front of the American Urological Association to demonstrate his self induced erection. He used an injection to obtain the erection, marking a new milestone in the history of ED cures. He also researched the fundamentals of more practical oral pills or drugs, laying the groundwork for future research.

Erectile dysfunction has come a long way over the years, and we can now boast rather innovative cures. Among the most conventional are orally taken herbs or prescription drugs- such as Viagra. Viagra is among the most popular, and is a PDE5 inhibitor. Other uncontroversial methods include vacuum pumps- specially designed pumps that can induce an erection. This works with about 90% of men, but can be rather expensive in obtaining the special vacuum pump. Inflatable implants and other surgical methods are of course worthy of being noted - but most opt to settle with an oral or other type of penile dysfunction cure.

In the world of ED, there are also a slew of controversial erectile dysfunction treatment options. Some things like ginseng have not been proved to work- and may be the work of the placebo effect instead. Other types of gene therapy and experimental drugs are in rigorous testing, and haven''t been released to the general public just yet. Herbal treatments are worthy of being noted, but some discredit the actual curing powers they hold. Even things such as the orally taken prescription Enzyte have been said to not work- and the company even faces a lawsuit pending.

In conclusion, there are many kinds of cures to help you cope with the prospect of erectile dysfunction. Most of the methods listed as uncontroversial should work- and do so in the majority of men. There are those that don''t seem to be affected by the conventional means, and you may have to consider experimental drugs or surgery to see any effect. In the future, it is likely technology will pull through and give us a cure all drug for the dysfunction- better late than never.
