Epson PowerLite 760c and PC-Free/Wireless PowerLite 765c 3LCD Projectors Bring New Features and Quieter Operation to Sub-Four-Pound Category.

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Epson America Inc. is again enhancing its line of Commuter Series multimedia projectors with the introduction of the Epson PowerLite 760c and PowerLite 765c. Building off the successes of the Epson PowerLite 740c and PowerLite 745c, the PowerLite 760c (3.8 pounds) and PC-free/wireless PowerLite 765c (3.9 pounds), respectively, replace these models, offering new features such as Instant Off(TM), quieter operation as low as 35-39 db, enhanced PC-free performance and 32-bit color output.

Both models feature native-XGA resolution (1,024 x 768) and up to 2,500-ANSI lumens of brightness, while maintaining sleek, travel-friendly designs (7.6"D x 10.9"W x 2.7"H). These projectors are not only slim and compact enough to carry in most briefcases or shoulder bags, but also include several connectivity options and quick and easy setup/shutdown capabilities. Both models are also driven by Epson's 3LCD technology, a three-chip design that projects continuous color and bright, natural images that are easy on viewers' eyes.

Several of the advanced features in the PowerLite 765c are engineered to appeal to more than just business professionals. The combination of the projector's 3LCD image quality, light weight, compact size, and PC-free operation is also designed to give photographers and other high-end digital artists a valuable presentation tool. The PowerLite 765c's built-in software enables digital images, such as high-resolution jpeg photos, to be projected in PC-free slideshows via storage devices such as USB memory, external hard drives or directly from digital cameras. Furthermore, slideshows can be controlled by the projector either manually or with automatic/timed advancement.

For users who place a premium on color accuracy and gamut, the PowerLite 760c and PowerLite 765c offer 32-bit color output and several adjustment tools that typically aren't available on most portable projectors. Whether the user is projecting images with or without a PC, color control and accuracy can be maintained by adjusting the projectors' independent red, green and blue channels and by choosing among several individual Kelvin settings.

PC-Free Presenting

The PowerLite 765c takes advantage of 802.11g internal WiFi technology, enabling users to upload or run presentations wirelessly at frame rates up to two to five times faster than 802.11b. Whether transferring data via 802.11 "b" or "g," Epson's unique and proprietary algorithm allows for fast wireless streaming of video content. Like its sibling model -- the Epson PowerLite 737c -- the PowerLite 765c comes with an 802.11b/g card. These models are currently the industry's only projectors to offer wireless compatibility with Apple's Keynote software and are also the only projectors of their kind to offer both LEAP-authentication and WEP/WPA for secure, encrypted wireless transmissions. Epson's proprietary firmware also gives presenters the ability to run PowerPoint presentations and MPEG-2 videos without a PC, using the projector's built-in PCMCIA and USB slots.

Easy Setup and "Instant Off"

The PowerLite 760c and 765c offer several easy-to-use setup features that help presenters get up and running quickly. Powering on the projector requires only seven seconds of warming up before a picture appears on the screen. Conversely, a new feature called "Instant Off(TM)" makes it possible to power down and unplug the projector immediately, eliminating the noise and delays often associated with cool-down cycles. A 1.2x optical zoom lens allows the display size to be adjusted using a remote control and can be set to project large images from relatively short throw distances. Setup is further simplified with the inclusion of color-coded cables and a verification tone that sounds whenever the "Power On/Off" button has been selected.

Availability and Warranty

The Epson PowerLite 760c and 765c will be available for $2,199 and $2,399 (respective estimated street prices) through authorized pro audio/visual, national distribution, catalog and direct PC dealers in June 2005. Epson's PowerLite projectors come with a two-year limited warranty that includes three elite technical support services -- two-year Epson PrivateLine(TM)availability, two-year Road Service Program and two-year International Warranty. Through the PrivateLine, projector owners can directly access an expedited support telephone line (typically in about one minute) by using a phone card that is included with the product.
