, he had been seen at an urgent care center; clinicians there believed he had gastroesophageal reflux. At that point, the patient also began to experience a mild sore throat with odynophagia. Upon further inquiry, he admitted to gagging and a globus sensation.

Findings on physical examination of the head and neck were normal except for a subtle patch of oral thrush. Transnasal esophagoscopy detected florid florid /flor·id/ (flor´id)
