) suite of applications. Epic Data's P3 Collaborative Manufacturing Execution suite is an electronic nervous system for discrete manufacturing Fabricating products by assembling components and subsystems into larger systems. The automated assembly line is the prime example of discrete manufacturing such as in the making of automobiles, household appliances and computer systems.  organizations. P3CME captures data automatically from every touch point in the production process: whenever material is processed, moved, transported, stored, or consumed, which enables managers and operators to monitor key business performance indicators at the workstation, cell, plant, enterprise and supply-chain levels.

P3CME creates a common stream of information across the enterprise and the manufacturing supply chain, coordinating the movement of material and labor to ensure that production schedules and demand are synchronized.

P3CME has three integrated modules - P3-Materials Management System, P3-Time & Labor Capture and P3-Shop Floor Execution - that work seamlessly together to create a holistic view of people, parts and processes.

"Epic Data's Collaborative Manufacturing Execution suite brings collaboration from the drawing board into the value stream by eliminating the islands of automation that obstruct visibility both across the enterprise and up and down the supply chain," said Greg Watkin, Vice President Marketing, of Epic Data. "This visibility helps companies to accelerate and extend lean manufacturing Lean manufacturing is the production of goods using less of everything compared to mass production: less human effort, less manufacturing space, less investment in tools, and less engineering time to develop a new product.  initiatives."

Epic's P3CME establishes an electronic nervous system using a unique "bottom-up" approach that starts with information captured and distributed on the shop floor. This bottom-up view provides manufacturers with the visibility needed to synchronize and adjust production with real-time demands, provide complete production process traceability and support continuous improvement efforts.

"Creating a common stream of information enables bottlenecks and quality problems to be monitored, managed and resolved quickly. P3CME enables the movement of materials and labor to be precisely coordinated, ensuring that production schedules are met," Watkin said.

P3CME builds upon Epic Data's 28 years of experience in providing automated data capture systems for discrete manufacturing. Designed specifically for discrete manufacturing operations, P3CME supports advanced auto-ID and capture, including all standard bar-code types, magnetic stripe, HID(TM) and RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) A data collection technology that uses electronic tags for storing data. The tag, also known as an "electronic label," "transponder" or "code plate," is made up of an RFID chip attached to an antenna. .

9100 advanced data capture terminal and innovative ProxWedge reader, P3CME is a high performance application suite capable of processing thousands of transactions per second In a very generic sense, the term Transactions Per Second refers to the number of atomic actions performed by certain entity per second. In a more restrictied view, the term is usually used by DBMS vendor and user community to refer to the number of database transactions performed .

Driven from the device level on the shop floor, P3CME supports any-to-any device communications, including PC's, shop-floor data-capture terminals, wireless local-area and wireless wide-area mobile devices. P3CME uses Internet standard communications protocols, enabling easy application-to-application connectivity, and communicates seamlessly with all major ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer.  systems.
