EnviroLogix' StarLink Test Receives USDA/GIPSA Certificate of Performance.

PORTLAND, Maine--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 2000

EnviroLogix' new QuickStix(TM) test for StarLink(TM) corn has been evaluated by the Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration The Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (or GIPSA) is an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture that facilitates the marketing of livestock, poultry, meat, cereals, oilseeds, and related agricultural products, and promotes fair and  (GIPSA GIPSA Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration ) unit of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. GIPSA confirmed that the test met its performance claims of detecting 0.2 % StarLink corn in ground grain and issued a Certificate of Performance. The EnviroLogix QuickStix test will detect one StarLink kernel in a 500 kernel sample in 5 to 10 minutes.

GIPSA has recently issued a directive establishing official procedures for testing corn for the presence of StarLink corn and certifying the official results, for use by the Federal Grain Inspection Service (FGIS FGIS Federal Grain Inspection Service ) or licensed delegated/designated agency personnel. The directive is now being amended to include the EnviroLogix QuickStix kit as an official verified method. Today's action provides a lower cost alternative for testing being performed throughout the grain industry, including the official testing by authorized au·thor·ize
