Entricom Launches entriNumber-NRUF 1.0 Following Successful NRUF Filings.

Business Editors, High-Tech Writers

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2001

The entriNumber(TM)-NRUF Application Allows Telecommunication

Carriers to Easily Compile All Required Data Through a Centralized

Web-based System and File NRUF NRUF Numbering Resource Utilization/Forecast  Reports Accurately and On Time

Entricom(TM), an innovative software company providing telecommunication carriers with world-class telephone number management software announced today the launch of the entriNumber(TM)-NRUF application module.

The entriNumber-NRUF module provides carriers with a tool for generating, filing and managing their FCC-mandated Number Resource Utilization Forecast (NRUF) reports.

In March of 2000, the FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  issued the First Report and Order on Number Resource Optimization (FCC 00-104) requiring that telecommunication carriers track all telephone numbers by specific Categories and Subcategories, and submit utilization and forecast reports (NRUF/FCC form 502) twice a year.

The FCC is taking the issue of number exhaust very seriously and is using the NRUF reports to monitor how telecommunication carriers are utilizing the public resource of telephone numbers. An accurate NRUF report must be on file in order for a telecommunication carrier to receive additional telephone numbers. When a carrier makes an error on their NRUF report filing, they must resubmit Verb 1. resubmit - submit (information) again to a program or automatic system

an error-free NRUF report to replace the one on file before they can receive any additional numbers.

"Collecting and generating the data necessary to fill out the NRUF reports is time consuming and difficult for many carriers", states Rick Applegate, Entricom President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. , "not to mention all the follow-up work that results in resubmitting these form sets to NANPA NANPA North American Numbering Plan Administration (Bellcore)

NANPA North Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association
until they're error free. In many cases, a carrier who had errors on their August NRUF reports did not correct the cause of these errors and in many cases ended up making the same errors again for this last February NRUF filing."

The entriNumber-NRUF application enables carriers to manage all of the data required for these forms, create and auto-populate all of the sets of forms from an on-line database, and generate valid FTP FTP

output files as well as online and printed reports. Entirely web-based, entriNumber-NRUF also includes tools for generating and editing the necessary forecast and utilization data, managing number inventory by TN and NXX NXX Network Numbering Exchange (in North American Numbering Plan) (-X), and importing existing number inventory information.

The North American Numbering Plan (NANP) is an integrated telephone numbering plan of 24 countries and territories: the United States and its territories, Canada, Bermuda, and 16 Caribbean
Administrator (NANPA) reported that they received over 3,000 FCC form 502s for the August 2000 NRUF filing. Of these, over 1,700 forms contained errors. Over 750 were rejected for the use of multiple OCNs, missing utilization or forecast data and service provider information. Only 350 or 12% of the total were received without any errors. As of February 16, 2001 the NRUF filing for February shows that approximately 37% of the 3,800 FCC form 502s received contained errors, 7% were rejected completely, and 17% were submitted after the February 1st deadline and contained errors.

Mr. Applegate added, "the beta trial of our entriNumber-NRUF application was a tremendous success with 100% of our beta customers submitting on time and receiving an `accepted with no errors' status. This is significant when you compare it with both the August 2000 and February 2001 NRUF results. With the competitive need for reducing costs and improving efficiency greater than ever, the value proposition for entriNumber-NRUF couldn't be stronger."

The entriNumber(TM) Application Suite is Entricom's flexible number management software that allows carriers to select any combination of entriNumber application modules to tailor an entriNumber solution to their specific number management needs. EntriNumber(TM)-NRUF is just one of the application modules within the suite. Other modules include: entriNumber(TM) (base product for all other entriNumber applications); entriNumber(TM)-Code Request (COCAG/10K); entriNumber(TM)-Block Request (TBPAG/1K Blocks); entriNumber(TM)-Operations (FCC-compliant Number Reservation System); entriNumber(TM)-Portability (Local Number Portability "LNP" redirects here.
