), a manufacturer and developer of electric hybrid and fuel cell drive systems announces that it continues to gain momentum in the fuel cell vehicle markets with the addition of three new or ongoing projects in these sectors. The latest program teams Enova with Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC CTC - Cornell Theory Center ), an independent, nonprofit, applied research and development professional services (job) professional services - A department of a supplier providing consultancy and programming manpower for the supplier's products.  organization that provides management, integration, and technology-based solutions to a wide array of clients. Enova will supply its 120kW HybridPower(TM) drive system and its fuel cell power management suite to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Fuel Cell Test and Evaluation Center (FCTec), which is operated by CTC. These components will be integrated into an MB-4 aircraft tow tractor by CTC and Enova. "This is our first joint undertaking with CTC and we anticipate many other ventures of this kind between our companies as we continue to expand our markets in the U.S."

"FCTec's mission is to accelerate the development and commercialization of fuel cell systems by providing research, development, and test and evaluation services to Government and private Industry," said Daniel R. DeVos, CTC's President & CEO. "We are pleased to be teaming with Enova Systems on this effort and are confident that this partnership will produce a successful fuel cell integration and demonstration project."

The power plant used to drive the vehicles can vary widely. Originally, humans or animals would have provided the means of propulsion, later being supplemented by wind power (eg  systems and our experience in customization and integration for varying driving cycle applications. In 2004, Enova integrated its HybridPower 120kW drive system, with a Capstone microturbine in another MB-4 tow tractor for the U.S. Air Force which is now in operation at Hickam Air Force Base For the civil airport use of this facility, see Honolulu International Airport

In a second project, Enova contracted with the High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC HTDC High Technology Development Corporation

With funding from the Hawaii Center for Advanced Transportation Technologies (HCATT HCATT Hawaii Center for Advanced Transportation Technologies ), Enova will integrate its HybridPower 120kW drive system and fuel cell power management systems into the Workhorse van for routine base operations and have the capability to serve as a Ground Power Unit for the Air Force to power up aircraft and equipment during maintenance operations.

"HCATT continues its over 10-year relationship with Enova because of its dedication to product quality, innovation and customer support," said Tom Quinn, Director, HCATT (a department within the HTDC). "Our entire electric and hybrid-electric fleet is powered by Enova's technologies and we are excited to be working with Enova once again."

Considered one of the largest sources of localized air pollution, airports have been targeted for specific pollution reduction measures supported by the U.S. Hydrogen Initiative and Clean Air Act. Demonstration projects such as this allow the fuel cell and aviation industry to explore such measures and expand their operational knowledge of fuel cell systems as it relates to their full range of capabilities and performance expectations.

In late 2004, Enova also teamed with Hydrogenics to develop and deploy a fuel cell hybrid delivery van for Purolator Courier Ltd., Canada's leading courier company, as part of its "Greening the Fleet" initiative to explore the use of clean transportation technologies. Enova supplied its HybridPower 120kW drive system and fuel cell power management systems, as well as integration assistance for this project, which is currently in its evaluation phase prior to commission to Purolator's delivery fleet.
