Enhanced phone service.

Enhanced 911 and improved display services by year's end will be provided through the introduction of Common Channel Signaling 7 (CCS7) by the North Eastern Ontario Communications Network Inc. (NEOnet). The non-profit regional group in the Timmins area recently received a $500,000 boost from FedNor and $800,000 from Northern Telephone, a major project partner to provide area communities with this new technology. The CCS7 project should speed up calls in the Cochrane and Timiskaming districts. NEOnet is also working on a cellular expansion study and a volunteer action online Web site.
