Enhanced 622 Mbps POS Testing from RADCOM's WireSpeed.

MAHWAH, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1999--

The only available portable Packet over SONET/SDH Packet over SONET/SDH, abbreviated POS, is a communications protocol for transmitting packets in the form of the Point to Point Protocol over SDH or SONET, which are both standard protocols for communicating digital information using lasers or light emitting diodes (LEDs)  protocol

The new software version 2.60 is a complete POS network development and support solution. It adds critical online analysis, PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) The most popular method for transporting IP packets over a serial link between the user and the ISP. Developed in 1994 by the IETF and superseding the SLIP protocol, PPP establishes the session between the user's computer and the ISP using  link negotiation, and new online filters and triggers to its existing full line rate capture, 350+ protocol support and wire speed generation capabilities.

WireSpeed Packet over SONET A metropolitan area network (MAN) or wide area network (WAN) transport technology that carries IP packets directly over SONET transmission without any data link facility such as ATM in between.  analyzer's ability to generate and decode different types of traffic on an emulated PPP link was extremely useful to our OC12 POS development efforts," said Bruce Bowers, Software Development Test Engineer from Cisco Systems. "RADCOM's analyzer gave us the ability to look at all layers - from SONET to Packet to IP - with a single box. This feature, coupled with its extensive filtering capabilities, shortened testing and debugging time."

More than traditional full-rate traffic generation, the WireSpeed offers flexible TCP/IP TCP/IP

packet building and accurate timestamp. It also provides simultaneous line-rate analysis of top applications, IP talkers, and listeners, as well as frame size distribution and IP and HDLC statistics.

"To manage commercial high-speed links, it is necessary to look at top IP applications and to analyze top layer protocols such as H.323, MPLS, SIP, MAPOS MAPOS Multiple Access Protocol over SONET/SDH , SRP SRP - A data link layer protocol.  and non-IP protocols, as well as view top users," stated Doron Elinav, RADCOM Product Manager. "We combine these features with PPP Link Negotiation and improved filtering by IP address or protocol field, all in real time. In addition, we offer the IP Builder, which enables the building of higher layer traffic, such as UDP UDP (uridine diphosphate): see uracil.

and ICMP. RADCOM's WireSpeed supports remote access either through a LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  or dial-up connection, with support for Windows, LINUX and Solaris platforms," he adds. All these capabilities make the WireSpeed an extremely valuable tool for managing and maintaining high-speed POS links. In addition, because of its unique monitoring, statistics, and filtering capabilities, the WireSpeed may be used for stressing and troubleshooting live networks, including ISP backbones.

Since the same WireSpeed hardware supports both ATM and POS, the WireSpeed is the perfect solution for network professionals who need to test and manage both ATM and POS networks. When running ATM software, the WireSpeed tests OC-12 and OC-3 ATM networks and supports high-speed ATM analysis by utilizing an add-on software package. The ATM portion supports Quality of Service testing, policing, full-duplex monitoring of 350+ protocols, real-time filters, generation and statistics on both single-mode and multi-mode links. Both OC-12c/STM4 and OC-3c/STM1 interfaces are available in hot-swappable LIMs. All of these features are available simultaneously at full line rates.

The new version of WireSpeed Packet over SONET/SDH version 2.60 is now available for immediate shipping. RADCOM's current customers will receive the update free of charge.
