Engineered Lighting Products Acquires Technology, Assets of Videssence, Plus Key Sales and Production Personnel.

Acquisition of the assets, technology and certain key personnel of Videssence, Inc., Burlingame Calif., one of the television and film industry's best known, technologically advanced studio lighting companies, has been announced by Engineered Lighting Products, a privately held leading producer of architectural lighting equipment. Shipments of Videssence lighting products to distributors and customers have already begun.

Ralph Swarens, ELP founder and president, said the new business will operate as a division of ELP and will carry the Videssence name. "We regard the new product line as a natural extension of our work in architectural lighting," he said. All manufacturing, engineering as well as business operations have been transferred to El Monte.

"Videssence is the originator and the industry leader in the use of fluorescent lighting for video and film applications. It is regarded as one of the most innovative in the industry, marketing and selling its products on a worldwide basis in the television and film environments for many years.

"We have acquired the inventory of Videssence as well as key design and manufacturing components, plus veteran sales, marketing and production personnel of the company." The personnel include:

-- Joan Weckerle, formerly international sales manager for Videssence, who will
assume the role of Vice President of Sales and Marketing, focusing on
international sales.

-- Julane Sullivan, will continue in her role as National Sales Manager with
emphasis on group projects and consumer sales.

-- Gary Thomas will reassume his post as Northeast and Canadian Regional
Manager.

-- Stan Wong, Manufacturing Manager for Videssence, has been assigned parallel
responsibilities at the new ELP Division and has relocated to El Monte.

Since 1985 Engineered Lighting Products, has led in the development of effective and efficient fluorescent fixtures for the architectural market place. Mr. Swarens was the founding president of the company and prior to that worked in all phases of the lighting industry as a representative, designer and consultant. He holds a degree in Illumination Engineering and Business from Oregon State University.
