Enesco Enters Memory-Keeping Category with Patented Products

Enesco Group, Inc. (NYSE:ENC), a global leader in the gift, collectible and home decor industries, today announced the Company signed multi-year global licensing agreements with Cardswell(TM), Ltd. and Archetype, Ltd., to market products in the memory-keeping category in multiple channels of distribution.

Cardswell, Ltd. produces the Cardswell Greeting Card Saver, which is a patented binder with sleeves designed specifically to store and display greeting cards. Archetype, Ltd.'s Pocketbook Memories(TM) line features integrated photo frames and decorative storage boxes to protect and store photos and keepsakes.

According to a 2003 Unity Marketing survey of 1,000 U.S. homes, 83 percent of adults purchased a greeting card in the past year, which is a significant increase from the 72 percent a year prior. Cardswell estimates that Americans purchase and inscribe more than seven billion greeting cards per year, with the vast majority being saved for sentimental reasons.

The licenses entitle Enesco to the specific product format, but feature Enesco's artwork. By doing so, Enesco is able to produce coordinating thematic statements for occasions and merchandise both brands together under the 'memory keeping' umbrella. The Cardswell Greeting Card Saver gives consumers an easy way to preserve their treasured cards without spending the time required for traditional scrapbooking. No other product of its kind is currently in the marketplace.

Cardswell and Pocketbook Memories will be sold at card and gift stores, the mass-market locations, craft outlets and almost anywhere greeting cards and scrapbooking products are sold. The initial offering in the U.S. was presented at the National Stationery Show in May 2004, and will ship to retailers in the third and fourth quarters.
