The competition will be among governmental and private companies as well as individuals across the region.
Entries should be on new ideas and practices that will help reduce usage of electricity.
The award is under the patronage of UAE vice-president, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoom.
It was announced by award president Dr Abdullah Al Amery at the Elecrticity and Water Authority, Hoora, yesterday.
Present were Electricity and Water deputy head Adnan Fakhro and Electricity Rationalisation director as well as officials from Gulf Aluminum Rolling Mill Company, Bapco and the National Oil and Gas Authority.
The Award is organised by Dubai Quality Group and is sponsored by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Nakheel Company, Dubai Aluminium, Dubai Media Incorporated and Dubai Roads and Transport Authority.

The deadline for receiving applications is September 1.
