The Asia South Region Meeting took place in New Delhi, India and was the first of eight regional meetings planned for 2007 to meet the open standards requirements of the upstream oil and gas industry. A key part of Energistics' business strategy is to increase the economic relevance of standards to the upstream industry by expanding adoption and driving global deployment of technical standards. The meeting resulted in the official launch of Energistics' Asia South Region and the nomination of Mr. Venugopal Bandaru of Satyam as the Region Lead for 2007. Mr. Bandaru is a Lead Consultant in Energy & Utilities for Energistics member Satyam and is based in Hyderabad, India. In addition to Satyam's generous support for both membership development and open standards deployment, Mr. Bandaru will provide leadership and direct communications to potential open standards community members in the Region, which includes India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Australia and other oil producing countries in this part of the globe.
