Energistics Holds First Region Meeting in India.

 Sponsors Meeting and Energistics Officially Launches Asia South Region

NEW DELHI New Delhi (dĕl`ē), city (1991 pop. 294,149), capital of India and of Delhi state, N central India, on the right bank of the Yamuna River. , India -- Energistics announced today their first region meeting held outside of North America and Europe. The Asia South Region Meeting took place in New Delhi, India and was the first of eight regional meetings planned for 2007 to meet the open standards requirements of the upstream oil and gas industry.

Sponsored by Energistics member, the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) (incorporated on June 23, 1993) is an Indian public sector petroleum company. It is a Fortune Global 500 company, and contributes 77% of India's crude oil production and 81% of India's natural gas production.  (ONGC) of India, more than 125 oil industry executives, geologists and data managers attended the event to hear about development, adoption and deployment of open data exchange standards for the upstream industry. The meeting was inaugurated by Mr. D.K. Pande, Director (Exploration) of ONGC and Energistics Board Member, and the Welcome Address was delivered by Mr. R.S. Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of ONGC. It was held in conjunction with PETROTECH-2007 which was also chaired by Mr. Sharma.

Commenting on the announcement, Randy Clark, President and Chief Executive Officer of Energistics, said, "We are very pleased with the success of our first regional meeting this year. A key part of Energistics' business strategy is to increase the economic relevance of standards to the upstream industry by expanding adoption and driving global deployment of technical standards. Our regional meetings facilitate direct interaction with our members so we can ensure our standards are market-driven and that we reach this goal."

The meeting resulted in the official launch of Energistics' Asia South Region and the nomination of Mr. Venugopal Bandaru of Satyam as the Region Lead for 2007. Mr. Bandaru is a Lead Consultant in Energy & Utilities for Energistics member Satyam and is based in Hyderabad, India. In addition to Satyam's generous support for both membership development and open standards deployment, Mr. Bandaru will provide leadership and direct communications to potential open standards community members in the Region, which includes India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Australia and other oil producing countries in this part of the globe.
