Energistics' First Annual Member Meeting Held in Houston.


New Board Members Elected from BP, ExxonMobil and Paradigm

HOUSTON -- Energistics held its first Annual Member Meeting and Reception in Houston at the Marriott South Loop Hotel on March 8, 2007. More than eighty members and prospective members took part in presentations focused on Energistics strategy, open data exchange standards and Board of Directors election results.

Dave Latin of BP, Steve Zelikovitz of ExxonMobil and Roger Brown of Paradigm were elected to three-year terms on the Energistics Board. Randy Clark Randall Byron Clark (born July 27, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois) was a tackle who played eight seasons in the National Football League for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Falcons. , Energistics' President and Chief Executive Officer, was also re-elected to a three-year term. These four board members join Mike Benjamin of Schlumberger, Peter Breunig of Chevron, James Bridges of Knowledge Systems, Tom Halbouty of Pioneer Natural Resources, Jonathan Lewis For the England international cricketer who plays for Gloucestershire, please see Jon Lewis and for the American football player, see Jonathan Lewis (football player).

Commenting on the election of the new members, Randy Clark said, "Our Board has gained three well-respected members of the upstream oil and natural gas industry to assist us in our mission to develop and deploy open data exchange standards in the global oilfield. Energistics is a member-driven organization, and we are excited to have added the thought leadership of Dave, Steve and Roger to our Board of Directors."

Retiring from the Board this year were Steve Comstock of ExxonMobil, Eldad Weiss of Paradigm and Morag Watson of BP. Their outstanding services were honored by Mr. Clark to the membership during the meeting.

Highlights of the meeting included presentations on the business value associated with the adoption and deployment of Energistics' flagship standards, WITSML WITSML Wellsite Information Transfer Standard Markup Language  and PRODML. DJ Johnson of Landmark spoke about the 40+ WITSML-imbedded software solutions now available to the industry and the operational efficiencies gained in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea through the use of WITSML. Rick Morneau of Chevron spoke on the newly-released PRODML standard and its capabilities for automating production optimization. In addition, Peter Larabee of ExxonMobil outlined the mission of the new Energistics Standards Advisory Council, which will be tasked with reviewing and vetting potential new initiatives for the Energistics community.
