LLC - Logical Link Control
today announced the formation of EnerLook(TM) Healthcare Solutions, Inc., a joint venture company that will provide a full range of interactive television and Internet-based services for hospitals worldwide.

Under the joint venture agreement, EnerNow, formerly Inprimis, Inc., is contributing its technology and management expertise and will have 51-percent ownership in the new company, while EDLook, which invested $1.6 million, will have 49-percent equity ownership.

The EnerLook healthcare service is a turnkey interactive solution that is the first to offer both analog and digital capabilities at an affordable cost, opening the door to a host of interactive entertainment and information services See Information Systems.  for patients and improved administrative services for hospitals.

Patients at participating hospitals will be connected like never before -- having a large array of interactive services, including educational information about the medical procedures they are undergoing, video-on-demand, cable TV, Internet access See how to access the Internet.  and attending remote religious services or meetings while in their hospital beds. Hospitals use the system to provide a range of new health education information and real-time administrative services, such as patient surveys, interactive staff training, dietary menus and telemedicine offerings.

Unlike many other technology services, the EnerLook solution is particularly cost-effective for healthcare facilities because there is little up-front expense for providing the services -- and the hospitals can benefit from revenues from the added services. EnerLook will provide the hardware and technical expertise for a nominal installation fee, as well as develop cost-sharing plans dealing with advertising and subscription-based services. Systems can be tailored to meet each hospital's needs -- enabling the hospital to customize the services.

Much of the technology for the EnerLook solution is coming from EnerNow, which is providing its state-of-the-art Media Terminals(TM) based on the Liberate(R) TV Platform(TM) software. EnerNow is also providing numerous media distribution products and software, including its patent-pending truNetTV(TM) software. Through a strategic alliance with Liberate Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq:LBRT LBRT Little Black Rubber Thingy

), EnerLook is providing a level of quality, customization and array of services previously unavailable.

"EnerLook is well positioned to deliver interactivity to the healthcare industry," said Coleman Sisson, president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

of Liberate Technologies. "EnerLook will be the first licensee to bring the Liberate TV Platform to the healthcare market -- providing both hospitals and patients with new interactive services."

"This is really the first time patients can actually access the full range of interactive services they are used to at home, during their hospital stays," said Edward Dubrovsky, president of EnerLook. "I analyzed the market for some time and realized this is the right company, the right technology and the right time for EnerLook and healthcare facilities."
