EnerNex Announces Substation Automation Seminar Series.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- EnerNex Corporation announced today the offering of a series of seminars focusing on electric utility substation automation. The seminars will introduce attendees to the basics of utility data communications and then focus on the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61850 standard, which addresses all current and future issues for the design, implementation and commissioning of substation automation systems.

Fall 2006 seminar presentations have been scheduled for Atlanta, Ga., Dallas, Tex., and Los Angeles, Calif. Dates for the first part of 2007 will be announced in December.

According to EnerNex co-founder and Chief Technical Officer Erich Gunther, the timing is right for this series: "Substation automation is a tremendous area of activity within the electric power sector and there is an increasing trend towards using integrated data communications systems. The IEC 61850 standard is one that we feel utilities will employ in the near and long term to ensure interoperability, reliability, and security. We have a team of instructors who are recognized experts on this topic and are excited to share their expertise with the industry."

The seminars will be taught by Gunther, Grant Gilchrist, Bruce Muschlitz, and Jerry Melcher. All have worked extensively with substation automation and have been involved with the development of the IEC 61850 standard since its beginnings.
