and the pressure on data storage companies we read about, user demand keeps growing. Take a look at our recent survey data from end-user (job) end-user - The person who uses a computer application, as opposed to those who developed or support it. Over the past few months we have conducted hundreds of end-user interviews with data storage managers across North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. .  in the growth of data storage demand from their internal end users.

While the stock market may be putting pressure on the storage sector as we have read recently, the demand will need to be filled. Obviously, new market entrants, new technologies and a continuing lower price point for storage will lead to revenue and earnings pressure for some of the players, the overall market will likely be strong.

One of the measures we use in our interviews is the size (in terabytes) that the company is currently managing. Couple that with the growth rate expected and you get a picture shown in Figure 1.

Currently we show the average shop has 25TB installed, and the expected growth rate is 26% over the next 12 months. Not too many markets are showing this kind of opportunity.

We further segmented the market into those firms that have less than 5TB installed and those with 5+ to take a look at the growth rate by these sectors. While both are strong, the big guys expect to grow faster (33%) than the small shops (20%)-making it imperative imperative: see mood.
