Apparently, there's no end to what music labels will do for attention. Promotional items run the gamut from CD-ROMs and custom candy bars to sponges, multipurpose knives, mouse pads, beach balls, caps, staplers and, now, thong panties pant·ie or pant·y

And why not? When the garment accompanies a press kit introducing Da Dirty South Records, a new L.A.-based rap label, it sort of makes sense. Thongs and bikini tops are as much a part of rap music as Adidas and Kangol caps used to be.

Da Dirty South, which is affiliated with Ark 21 Records Ark 21 Records is a record label established by Miles Copeland (his brother, Stewart Copeland was part of the pop-rock trio The Police). The record company no longer operates. The record label was based out of Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California.  and distributed through Universal Music Group, is pushing its first artist, Don Dada.

"Hip-hoppers, when they send out packages, they send out crazy stuff," said label spokeswoman Makeda Smith. "Coffins, key chains, but this is probably the wildest."
