Encryption Plus Hard Disk V7.0. (Virus Notes).

Encryption Plus Hard Disk 7.0 encrypts a computer's entire hard disk. It uses the Rijndael Advanced Encryption Standard (cryptography, algorithm) Advanced Encryption Standard - (AES) The NIST's replacement for the Data Encryption Standard (DES). The Rijndael /rayn-dahl/ symmetric block cipher, designed by Joan Daemen and Vincent Rijmen, was chosen by a NIST contest to be AES.  (AES) algorithm with a 256-bit encryption key, designed to US specifications defined in Federal Information Processing Standard Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) are publicly announced standards developed by the United States Federal government for use by all non-military government agencies and by government contractors.  (FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standards) A series of publications issed by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) that specifies information security guidelines for federal government departments and agencies. ) 197. It works with Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. , 2000 and XP.

There are numerous benefits to encrypting the entire hard drive. Manual file-by-file encryption is laborious and error prone, and it is easy for a user to leave sensitive information unprotected. Even when users are careful, Windows application data can be stored in unprotected locations, including temporary directories and swap files. By encrypting every byte of data on a hard disk, sensitive information remains protected, wherever or however it is stored on the computer.

Encryption Plus Hard Disk 7.0 delivers on-the-fly encryption and decryption (cryptography) decryption - Any procedure used in cryptography to convert ciphertext (encrypted data) into plaintext.  of data, which means that only the specific portion of the file that is in use is decrypted and loaded into memory. Encryption Plus Hard Disk never leaves a file or any portion of a file unprotected on the hard disk.

Encryption Plus Hard Disk 7.0 layers on the protection also denying unauthorised access to the computer's Windows operating system. Immediately after a PC boots, but before Windows is loaded, it loads its own operating system and prompts the user for a password. If the user fails to enter the correct password, Encryption Plus Hard Disk 7.0 will not allow the computer to complete the boot process and it denies the user access to the Windows operating system. The computer is then inoperable inoperable /in·op·er·a·ble/ (in-op´er-ah-b'l) not susceptible to treatment by surgery.

, and data stored on the hard disk remains encrypted until the correct password is provided.

An application designed specifically for use by large companies, Encryption Plus Hard Disk 7.0 offers several features.

* A new wizard-driven Administrator Program to create and manage encryption on user machines.

* Intuitive GUI (Graphical User Interface) A graphics-based user interface that incorporates movable windows, icons and a mouse. The ability to resize application windows and change style and size of fonts are the significant advantages of a GUI vs. a character-based interface.  lets the Administrator set up numerous Corporate and Local Administrators (by division, location, etc.'). www.pcguardian.com
