Encouraging a good, early start. (Madison School District 321).


An initiative focused on the family is at the heart of Madison Madison, cities, United States
Madison.

1 City (1990 pop. 12,006), seat of Jefferson co., SE Ind., on the Ohio River; settled c.1806, inc. 1838. It is a port of entry and a tobacco marketing center.
 School District 321's winning entry from Idaho Idaho (ī`dəhō), one of the Rocky Mt. states in the NW United States. It is bordered by Montana and Wyoming (E), Utah and Nevada (S), Oregon and Washington (W), and the Canadian province of British Columbia (N).  in The Civic Star Award program for 2003.

Project Love, Language and Literacy is in its fifth year and is aimed at having children enter school ready to learn. The project relies on the wisdom that families are the first and most effective teachers of children, and it strives to make parents, teachers and the rest of the community partners in the learning process.

The program aims to address the needs of the county's children from birth to age 8. The effort involves community members working as partners with parents to ensure that every child has the fundamental building blocks of healthy development needed to succeed. Under the leadership of the Madison School District, the Madison County Madison County is the name of twenty counties in the United States, named after President James Madison:
  • Madison County, Alabama
  • Madison County, Arkansas
  • Madison County, Florida
  • Madison County, Georgia
  • Madison County, Idaho
  • Madison County, Illinois
 Community Council initiated one aspect of the program-Parents as Teachers. The Parents as Teachers program is serving 208 children and 140 families by providing information monthly to parents on age-appropriate, early-childhood development. More than 350 families are on the waiting list to participate.

Other aspects of Project Love, Language and Literacy include the development of hearing screening for newborns at Madison Memorial Hospital. The program has led to the detection of four profoundly deaf infants who could start receiving intervention A procedure used in a lawsuit by which the court allows a third person who was not originally a party to the suit to become a party, by joining with either the plaintiff or the defendant.  services immediately rather than waiting until the hearing problems might otherwise have been detected.

Working with the school district and using AmeriCorps volunteers, the Madison County Commission and the mayors of Rexburg and Sugar City welcome each baby born into the community with packets including teething teething /teeth·ing/ (teth´ing) the entire process resulting in eruption of the teeth.
