Electrabel has acquired an RSX RSX Reality Synthesizer (Sony PlayStation) RSX Real-Time Resource Sharing Executive RSX Rally Sport Experimental (Acura) RSX Risk Information & Services Exchange RSX Real Time System Executive (tm) node and an Alpha(tm)-based node forming an Encore Real-Time computer system to use in two nuclear power plant sites in Belgium. These nodes are interconnected with REFLECTIVE MEMORY A memory bus technology developed originally in the 1980s by Encore Computer that allowed simultaneous reads and writes to multiple memories. Electrabel, the Encore RSX Real-Time computer systems will be used to operate nuclear power plant simulators, which are used for operator training, and are a major cornerstone for assuring the safety of the nuclear power plants in Belgium. The Encore RSX systems will be used in the full scope simulators at the Tihange nuclear power plants to upgrade performance without requiring a change-out of Electrabel's investment in simulator software over the past 10 years. Electrabel is also adding an Alpha-based Encore Real-Time computer system at a new nuclear power plant site in Tihange, Belgium, for software development. Electrabel selected the RSX and Alpha-based Encore Real-Time computer systems because of their reliability and compatibility with existing nuclear power plant simulation software. The real-time computing capability will allow for true optimization of the simulation software and significantly reduce the need for human intervention for fine tuning and maintaining the simulator's sensitive configurations.
