EnOcean's Energy-Harvesting Wireless Module Awarded 'Best of Sensors Expo' Gold Honors by Sensors Magazine.

MUNICH, Germany & BOSTON -- EnOcean, global innovator of wireless sensor solutions powered by ambient energy, has won Sensors Magazine's "Best of Sensors Expo" (BOSE) Gold award for its tiny solar-powered wireless sensor module, the STM100. BOSE honors are presented to new products with the best potential to change the future of sensor-enabled design.

STM100 overcomes the challenges to efficient wireless sensing: power-hungry radios and battery deficiencies such as limited life, maintenance and disposal. The device generates its own power using a tiny onboard solar cell eliminating batteries or external power supply. STM100 requires only indoor ambient light to operate, and in factory/office environments can store sufficient energy to run for up to five days in complete darkness. The STM100 can be combined with a wide variety of sensors such as temperature, pressure, humidity, gas, contact, brightness, etc.

The BOSE award was presented to EnOcean during a Reader Reception held June 7 at Sensors Expo in Chicago. The editors of Sensors presented Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards to 11 Sensors Expo exhibitors in four categories: Sensors, Components, Networking and Communications, and Data Acquisition. Products were judged on the basis of whether they have potential to change the way people work, whether they serve real needs, and whether they are highly distinct from other offerings.
