En-Touch Selects the Trident7(TM) Optical Access Platform from Wave7 Optics for Multiple FTTP Networks in the Houston Area.

ATLANTA / LAS VEGAS -- Wave7 Optics Inc., a leading supplier of fiber-to-the-home or -premises (FTTH/FTTP) equipment for residential and business services, today announced that En-Touch Systems, Inc., a "quad play" provider delivering service to over 11,000 homes and businesses in southeast Texas, has selected the Trident7 Optical Access Platform for multiple FTTP (Fiber To The Premises) The installation of optical fiber from the carrier directly into the home or office. Also called "fiber to the home" (FTTH). See PON and FTTC. See also FTP.  networks. As En-Touch's exclusive provider of FTTP systems, Wave7 Optics has begun deploying and will continue deploying over the next five years the Trident7 in "master-planned" communities for both residential and business services.

The initial FTTP network expansion is projected to pass more than 28,000 homes and businesses. En-Touch currently has the Trident7 operational in the Telfair community in Sugar Land, Texas and will soon connect other communities in Fort Bend and Harris counties. All networks will offer a "quad play" package of traditional ("POTS") telephone service, RF television (currently 239 channels, including HDTV (High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although some HDTV sets are available in standard (rather square) screen sizes, the overwhelming majority of sets are wide screen, which eliminates ), 5 to 15 Mbs high-speed Internet and security monitoring services.

En-Touch will deploy the Trident7 configured for EPON See PON.  (the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields.  802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM), also known as IEEE 802.3ah, is a collection of protocols specified in IEEE 802.3, defining the Ethernet in the Access networks, i.e. First/Last Mile.  standard) based services. The Trident7 is the industry's most advanced and flexible FTTP platform, as it delivers standards-based EPON and GPON See PON.  technologies in the same platform, which allows service providers to cost-effectively deliver a much broader array of services, as compared to other access network technologies.

For instance, Wave7 Optics customer premise devices have the ability to transport traditional RF return signaling from the home to the CATV (Community Antenna TV) The original name for cable TV. This enables residential customers to have access to interactive services like Pay-Per-View (PPV Positive predictive value (PPV)

"We evaluated a number of systems during the course of this year and came to the conclusion that the Trident7 best meets the needs of our customers now and gives us a solid footing going forward," said Jason Bone, En-Touch Director of Engineering. "Given its many deployment and operational advantages, such as the ability to offer a tremendous variety of service offerings with on-demand and interactive features, we believe the Trident7 will help us establish a clear competitive edge over other operators in our service area."

"En-Touch represents a growing trend of going 'all fiber' when it comes to delivering telecommunications services to new communities and we look forward to working with them and to the successful fruition of these projects," said Emmanuel Vella, Chief Marketing Officer for Wave7 Optics. "Installing the Trident7 is a good choice because an operator will have complete flexibility to deliver EPON or GPON as the FTTP market evolves."

Wave7 Optics made this announcement at the FTTH (Fiber To The Home) See FTTP.  Conference in Las Vegas, where the company is exhibiting the Trident7 and its Last Mile Link[TM] product lines through October 4th at The Venetian Resort (booth 121). In addition, Wave7 Optics CTO, Jim Farmer, is participating in the panel discussion and presentation, "FTTH Success Stories - Municipal Networks," on October 3rd, 11 am - 12 pm and is giving a paper, "Optical Considerations in FTTH Networks," on October 4th, 10:30 - 11:00 am. Stephen Thomas, Chief Architect for Wave7 Optics, will present his paper, "OAM&P in Passive Optical Networks," on October 4th, 1:45 - 2:15 pm.
