WearFlex emulsion polybutadiene products have been introduced by the company. The line's structural similarity to emulsion styrene/butadiene rubber (SBR SBR - Spectral Band Replication ) is said to combine improved compatibility and processing characteristics similar to those of SBR with the performance advantages of polybutadiene rubber. Emulsion polybutadiene is polymerized in an emulsion system similar to that employed in making cold SBR. For this reason, its micro-structure, a random configuration of cis-, trans- and vinyl components, very closely resembles the butadiene butadiene (byt'ədī`ēn), colorless, gaseous hydrocarbon. There are two structural isomers of butadiene; they differ in the location of the two carbon-carbon double bonds in the  portion of cold SBR copolymers, such as SBR 1500. The company is currently marketing three different ISP WearFlex EBR EBR East Baton Rouge

products, including clear, oil-extended and carbon black masterbatch (CBMB CBMB Cell Biology and Molecular Biology ). Since emulsion polybutadiene is said to exhibit greater resistance to breakdown during mixing operations, it is normally produced to a lower raw viscosity than SBR, for optimum processing characteristics. Additional benefits of using emulsion polybutadiene are said to include improved permeability, tack and reversion reversion: see atavism.  resistance characteristics. Air permeability of emulsion polybutadiene in the green state is more than twice that for its counterpart SBR. As little as 20 phr of natural rubber with emulsion polybutadiene will provide tack equivalent to 40 phr natural with SBR. If equivalent amounts of natural rubber are blended in emulsion polybutadiene and SBR, the EBR blend will yield substantially higher tack. ISP WearFlex EBR inhibits the reversion of natural rubber compounds.
