Employers Group Survey Says: No Mini-Holiday for Employees on July 4th - Just a Day Off.


LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  -- With the 4th of July falling on a Wednesday this year, the majority of California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).  employers will not be granting workers a 5-day holiday weekend, according to according to

 a survey conducted by the nation's oldest and largest employer association. In Employers Group's July 4th Survey, 92.4 percent reported that they will only grant Wednesday as a day off with pay.

More than half of the employers (55.7 percent) said they would not alter their existing holiday schedule to accommodate requests from employees who want to take more time off during that week, while 71.4 percent said they will approve vacation requests if an employee has earned time off, based on staffing needs. Just over half (53.8 percent) of the employers said they will be flexible and relax policies for time-off requests - again, based on staffing needs.

While some employers have said their time-off policies are set in stone, most agreed they will be more flexible to workers' needs.
