 Tire, chairman of the board of directors. Emkes succeeds Thomas Dattilo of Cooper Tire & Rubber.

Emkes began his career at Firestone Tire & Rubber in 1976 as an international trainee. Between 1979 and 1997, he held various management positions in Spain, the United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates, federation of sheikhdoms (2005 est. pop. 2,563,000), c.30,000 sq mi (77,700 sq km), SE Arabia, on the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. , Brazil and Mexico. He was promoted to executive vice president of Bridgestone Firestone and elected to a seat on its board of directors in 1999. He became chairman and chief executive officer of Bridgestone Firestone North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere.  in 2002 and Bridestone Americas Holding in 2004.

Emkes graduated form DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, and received an MBA MBA
