Although the EMR from electrical and electronic devices is typically measured for practical, every-day situations, every object, including humans, emanates energy. ), announced today that it has won a $10 million contract from Shaanxi HanCheng Second Power Co. Ltd. to install instrumentation and control systems for the first 600-megawatt power plant in the Northwest China Shaanxi Province.

The new power plant, initially consisting of two 600-megawatt coal-fired units, will be built near HanCheng City, Shaanxi Province. The plant is needed to meet the rapidly growing demand for reliable power in the region. The project is funded by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (国際協力銀行  .

The cornerstone of the project is installation of Emerson's PlantWeb(R) digital plant architecture, an automation solution that helps increase generating efficiency and reduce maintenance costs. PlantWeb will employ Emerson's multi-network Ovation(R) information and control system to control and monitor the plant's boilers, burner A drive that writes write-once optical discs such as CD-Rs and DVD-Rs. A "burner" implies a one-time recording, but the term is erroneously used to refer to drives that "write" to re-recordable CD-RW and DVD-RW/+RW media as well. See burn, CD-R and DVD-R.  management system and plant protection system.

Startup for Unit 1 is scheduled for August 2005; Unit 2 is expected to start operations in March 2006.

"This is an important project for the region, and we needed a tried-and-true control solution backed by superior technical expertise. We found both of these in Emerson," said Zhao Hechun, chief engineer of the North West Electric Power Design Institute. The Institute is a member of the China Electricity Council, and Zhao Hechun supports the Shaanxi HanCheng Second Power Company project.

"The project illustrates the breadth and depth of the global Emerson organization," said John Berra, president of Emerson Process Management. "Our resources in China, along with our global team of experts, worked together to provide the exact blend of tightly integrated control and information systems that our customer required. We are honored to be chosen for this project."

Emerson's Power & Water Solutions industry center will implement the comprehensive $10 million contract that encompasses design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, supply, installation supervision, training and commissioning of the plant's information and control system (I&C), supervisory information system (SIS), management information system (MIS), field instrumentation and connectivity, as well as other electrical equipment A piece of electrical equipment is a machine, powered by electricity and usually consists of an enclosure, a variety of electrical components and often a power switch. • Cathodic protection rectifier
  • Fire alarm panel
