ACTPN is the White House's premier private-sector advisory panel on international trade. Among its 45 members are prominent executives of major corporations and trade associations, who provide advice and informational support to the President, Congress and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative as it promotes the nation's trading interests around the world. As a part of the Executive Office of the President, the USTR formulates trade policy, resolves disagreements, and provides expertise in U.S. negotiations with such critical groups as the World Trade Organization (WTO See World Trade Organization. ), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), international organization that came into being in 1961. It superseded the Organization for European Economic Cooperation, which had been founded in 1948 to coordinate the Marshall Plan for European (OECD OECD: see Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. ), and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Organ of the United Nations General Assembly, created in 1964 to promote international trade.
